| These are the individual email addresses your account is alotted. You setup each one through the control panel and they are simply username@yourdomain.com. You get full POP3 access through popular clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. The defaul quota limit is 10MB but this can be easily changed through the control panel. You need not worry about your quota limit if you use a client to download your e-mail messages as they will be removed from the mail servers once your client programs says it has downloaded all messages successfully. |

Sending one message to the mailing list's list server sends mail to all other members of the group and users join the mailing list by subscribing to it through your website. Subscribers to a mailing list receive messages from all other members. Users have to unsubscribe from a mailing list to stop receiving messages forwarded from the group's members. This is a very effective way of keeping in touch with a large customer base for example. |
| A mailbox alias is a lot like a cloned address. If you don't want to give your personal e-mail address out to a company you can setup an alias. An example would be having the e-mail address "you@yourdomain.com." If you don't want to give this address out, you simply setup an alias through your control panel, "me@yourdomain.com" and it will automatically forward all mail to "you@yourdomain.com" but people sending to the fake address won't know the difference. |
| A mailbox forward works in the exact same way as a mailbox alias as it forwards all e-mail to an account specified in your control panel. The main difference is you can forward email from an account here to an account elsewhere so you don't have to change the email address you use. Once again, people won't know the difference when they email you. |
| The e-mail auto-responder is a commonly used tool to let someone know you have received the message they sent and will respond shortly. One example for this would be if you had an e-commerce website. When someone places an order you can have an auto-generated thank you sent to that person thanking them for placing their order with you. This is a very handy tool if you're someone who can't check your e-mail constantly but still want someone to know you did receive their message. |
| IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a method of distributing e-mail. It is different from the standard POP3 method in that with IMAP, e-mail messages are stored on the server, while in POP3, the messages are transfered to the client's computer when they are read. Thus, using IMAP allows you to access your e-mail from more than one machine, while POP3 does not. SMTP is the method used for sending out email. |

We have chosen to use Horde as the client software for this service as it is a world-leader in web-based email application software. This service will not work with Mail Alias or Mail Forwarding accounts however. |
